Might fine plant burgers

I grilled some plant-based burgers for my first session with this grill. Delicious they were! I like the whole system a lot: the grill, the charcoal pod, the lighter, the spatula and the board. I was delighted to be able to put the whole pod into my composter. I am looking forward to the briquet refills!

Great portable grill. Charcoal will get pricey

Grill performs well and stays hot for a little over an hr but replacing the charcoal tablets gets pretty expensive.

Where do I order more HERO pods in the future? You can order on our website, sign up for a subscription for 15% off or simply sign up for reminders via text to order more. We also sell at many well known retailers, both in store and online. As always, we encourage you to shop local when possible.

Can I use other charcoals in my HERO Grill? The HERO uses a proprietary briquet that is mostly flameless and does not require combustible petroleum-based starters, making it much safer to use in this format. Further, the pods are designed to capture the mess of grilling. Continued grilling with the pods may allow grease to build up in the pod, creating a fire hazard. Use of other charcoals will also void your grill warranty.

How do I pack my used grill and charcoal pod back into the carry case?
The HERO Carry Case was designed to help you pack away the entire HERO Grill System after each use. Once properly cooled, replace the lid on the charcoal pod and place the grill into the zippered bag. Then, place all the components back into the carry case, which can be easily wiped out with mild soap and water once you return home.

Great grill but...

It’s a great grill and concept especially for when I’m boating. Previously even my portable gas grill was heavy, took up space and was less than practical when wading to a shore for picnic. This tidy little package makes it much simpler. But, I just wish for 2 things.
First, the pod setup is pretty expensive for every time you want to grill and second, while it’s good heat, I wish it could burn hotter like other charcoal setups to really get that sear crust on meat.
Overall I’m very pleased though.

Great Camping Grill!

Bought this to use on our Labor Day weekend trip and its awesome! Has everything you need to cook up a great meal. Literally performs the way the other reviews, videos and instructions say. We used a small pot on the grill to heat up rice and edamame while grilling 2 tuna steaks. Both came out great with plenty of room. Just make sure of the pot size you want to use before you go on your trip. I found that I can use a Stanley Camp Percolator and a small cast iron pan to make coffee and eggs; again, came out great! This is the best grill around. Cannot wait for the charcoal pod refills so I can carry less and get more use out of the HERO Grill! Thanks!

Best grill ever?

Used for the first time this week while camping and we can’t say enough good things about it! Amazing. Highly recommend!

pump up the heat

I want to love this set-up but what's up with the max temp? Is there a way to pump up the heat? ... We've used the Hero grill twice now. The first time was great. The grill reached 450o and held there a bit... long enough to brown the burgers! We were able to cook two (thick) burgers to perfection (see photo ) plus we we able to grill peach halves and peppers!

Clean up and putting everything away was s delight.

However, the second time we cooked out the temp maxed out at ~350 degrees. (What happened?) The heat never picked up and while the burgers (eventually) cooked they never got that nice browned on the outside and grill marked looked. They were cooked but they looked anemic...grey... no nice browning. It was distressing to watch and wonder if our dinner was going to cook.

We have three more charcoal packets to experiment with and I'm really hoping for 400o or more!!!! I want this to work.

Also, I would say this is purely a summertime grill set up even at its best.. which I would he happy with... Outside air temps were near 90oF and I'm not sure anything would cook on a cold day.

RE: capacity ... My experience so far has me believing that dinner for two ( 2 burgers) is max cooking capacity.

PS. The grill and case and etc feel substantial and I really like the accessories esp. the bamboo fork, which is a better grill tool than a spatula type tool. The tines can go between and under..
